I've been interested in checking out the Lent-Riker-Smith Homestead in Jackson Heights but haven't gotten around to it yet. Here is the link http://www.rikerhome.com/

built in 1654, it's believed to be the oldest dwelling in America.

Another good resource is the Queens Historical Society http://www.queenshistoricalsociety.org/about.html

edited to add: I see that the forgotten ny site has some photos of the Lent-Riker-Smith house.

I highly recommend Dan Karatzas' book entitled Jackson Heights, A Garden in the City.  It's chock full of historical information as well as intriguing photographs of Jackson Heights' yesteryear.  A must read!  I believe JHBG may have copies available for sale for anyone interested.

The Library of Congress also maintains several interesting photos of Jackson Heights in its catalog.

I just came across some interesting posts written by people reminiscing about Jackson Heights of yesteryear at the Gotham Center website.  There are the usual posts looking for old friends and such, by there are also a couple of posts from some real old-timers that are interesting to read.

Abandoned Section of Roosevelt Station

Read this book about a month ago. It is so fantastic! One of the reasons I fell in love with JH was its interesting and visible history -- and this just made me love it even more. Great book. It's out of print but you can find it via other sellers on Amazon.

The book is unbelievable.  I got a copy about six years ago.  I think it is out of print now so I don't know how easy it is to get a copy.  My favorite picture is of the Jackson Heights golf course with the Towers, Elm Court and Chateau in the distance or the picture of the Jackson Heights Tennis Club.
