I am purchasing a fruit and vegetable share from the jackson heights csa and want to find another individual or family who would be interested in sharing it with me.
The CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) provides locally grown organic veggies and non organic fruit (but low pesticide). The advantage of having a farm share is that you get the freshest, most in season produce available, at a better price than you would pay at the farmers markets and grocery stores. Also you are really helping the farmers by making upfront payments, since they don't have to take out loans (or less of them.) So, you are helping yourself eat well and also helping a great farm in long island. check out
www.farmspot.org and
www.goldenearthworm.com for more info.
The pickup is on Thursdays from 5-8 at St. Mark's Church (33-50 82nd Street.) The first pick up will be June 4, and the season runs through the end of October/begginning of November. The payment is due by April 1. The total cost is $680, so it would be $340 each. You can make 2 payments, one soon and one by April 15th if its easier.
Since pickup is weekly we could either meet there every week and split the food equally, or we could alternate weeks. (or a little of both!)
Thanks for reading!
