remember, the planes always take off, and always make noise. 99 percent of the time, they disturb our neighbors in other neighborhoods. let's share the "wealth."

That's not quite true, and if you look at a map you can see why. There are two runways at LGA, that can each take off in either direction. That leaves 4 directions planes can take off and land from: NE, NW, SE, and SW. It's the SW approach that flies right over us. The SE approach flies over Flushing Meadows Park, except during tennis matches when it goes right over downtown Flushing. The NW approach only goes over Rikers Island. The NE approach goes over the water, and the areas it is closest to are industrial, with few residents. That's why those patterns are used most of the time, because they don't bother people (or at least not nearly as many).

Unless we in Jackson Heights make it very clear we will not tolerate more planes flying overhead...if LGA is expanded into Riker's Island with a new runway... unbearable noise will be our future.

I don't think there are any solid plans for how a new runway would be configured, but it's likely that it would mean less noise for us, as fewer flights would need to use the one runway that makes noise for us. Regardless I don't think demanding fewer flights into LGA is realistic.

Ten years or more there was a Town Hall for the airplane noise over Jackson Heights. At PS 69. At that time the noise seemed endless.

One thing I recall clearly, is the experts promised that in ten years airplanes would be quieter. And we would have less worries about plane noise.

It's ten years later. Just saying.

I saw that those in charge will say anything to a community...and then do whatever they like.

Including implementation of any possible plans for Riker's Island.
