She is probably learning that when you attend the Met Ball there is a price to pay. No ticket is truly free. She probably thought she could influence them. And now, of course we see that she is the one who can be influenced.

Interesting.

who are "they" in your latest brainfart?

Back with your insults.

My clear and unwavering, (as opposed to AOC) position is that she should have voted YES for the Iron Dome.

I will suggest to you what I suggested to others...

Perhaps it should be you personally who must explain to the descendants of the Holocaust survivors in Israel how you support a leader who wants to defund their protection.

it would be better to use those funds to help solve the horrible problem of hunger and poverty among the country's Holocaust survivors and their families. much like this country, Israel pays far too little attention to citizens who need help simply surviving.

wouldn't you feel better knowing that Holocaust survivors were able to get decent meals and medical supplies?

No amount of money for meals or medical supplies will help...after folks are killed by rocket attacks due to the act of defunding of the Iron Dome which was supported by AOC.

i would hope you would be willing to directly explain to Holocaust survivors and their families that food and medical supplies are not as important to their daily lives as the Iron Dome is.

They already know lives are more important...Their experiences have taught them.

The tactic of bait and switch isn't going to work to focus away from AOC's actions of wanting to defund the Iron Dome.

The pathetic invocation of holocaust survivors  is the worst kind of concern trolling, worthy of the gutter press. You really sink to some new depths.

Firstly, you mean, "descendants of holocaust survivors", since there are very few actual survivors alive in Israel -  or anywhere else.

Secondly,  My family is jewish. Most of my immediate family from one or two generations back survived the holocaust - some did not. . I have branches of my  cousins families who were entirely wiped out, who would be disgusted by your use of the Shoah to score points.

I say to you now:  stop invoking the most awful genocide from 80 years ago to score rhetorical points in an unrelated conflict.

---

Again, I ask you to clarify what you said

"She is probably learning that when you attend the Met Ball there is a price to pay. No ticket is truly free. She probably thought she could influence them. And now, of course we see that she is the one who can be influenced."

Who do you mean by "them".

If you're not willing to clarify this, it merely says "I'm willing to make outrageous and unsustainable insinuations" and then invoke the HOLOCAUST when someone calls you out.

We have words for people like that.

I am certainly not interested in fighting with a FELLOW JEW on this forum. I have Holocaust survivor family in Israel. Thus I think I have every right to talk about this issue.

And all of us Jews should take note that AOC has voted to defund the Iron Dome.

Happy ,Sukkot.

Wow, talk about a wild derailing of a thread that had nothing to do with Israel. AOC really seems to bring out the worst in people!

I don't understand the criticism. First it was - she's an unqualified bartender. Then it was - she's a fake because she graduated college and was taped dancing with her fellow students. Then it was - how could she afford a business suit to wear on the House floor, or to rent a place in DC. Now she's a traitor because she attended the Met Gala?

Who cares. I would have gone in a second to that Gala. And the very fact that Ana Wintour invited her speaks to her relevance, exposure and standing - all good things if we want anything done in the community. Stop beating on a young woman just because she dresses nice. It's silly.

It's not that. The cost of the Met Ball for her and her outfit can be up to $100K. Or more.

Meanwhile, I still see lines for food distribution in Jackson Heights.

And AOC's platform is for the under-privileged. Not the over-privileged.

The juxtaposition is astounding. And comes across as dissonant.

It's having your cake and eating it too. Or perhaps reminiscent of, "Let them eat cake!"

I don't believe AOC spent $100,000 on that dress. Don't designers loan or give these outfits so they get publicity?
I don't see an issue here. It's not like she wore a tan suit in the Capitol. That Obama! How did we even survive those eight years?

Duh, it was a protest vote as enough mod Republicans voted yes. Mod Dems are entirely to blame for the while mess leading up to the vote. The blame game on progressives is just more media spin.

Also, anyone remember the Met Gala dress? Yeah, that story and its attendant outrage sure had legs.  ::)

If u look there are over 2100 views on this thread. Maybe 10-15 people comment. More than 2100 others keep their opinions to themselves. It'd be interesting what the silent majority might think.

No, it wasn't against you commenting. It was to wonder what the outcome of over 2100 folks reading this thread will be. The silent majority will vote.

It's important to follow our representative closely. Wildcard voting by AOC  is good for her own political profile, yes.  But her NO vote concerning the INFRASTRUCTURE BILL is not helpful to us, her constituents. And we are the ones who really matter.
