Seeking wood tabletop refinisher
« on: December 28, 2020, 06:02:26 PM »
Thinking of having the top only of my 16-inch diameter walnut table refinished; no gouges, just missing some veneer, light scratches. The store/restorer on Northern and 100th Street, Oscar Deco, quoted $280.  That seems a bit much -- is it, in your estimation?  Do you know of other local restorers?

Hi Suzaan,

The quote does strike me as being on the high end but not outrageously so. I had a 24x24 mid-century coffee table refinished (veneer repair, stains) a couple of years ago, and I paid around 220-250 or so. Unfortunately, I no longer have the number of the person I used but they had a little carpentry studio in Williamsburg. Don't know if googling that would help. Good luck.
