Buying local this holiday season
« on: December 12, 2020, 01:12:13 PM »
Like many here, I prefer to patronize local businesses. This year it's particularly important to me to support my community. Below are some places where I'm getting my presents this year, and I'd like to expand my list with suggestions from all of you. Where in the neighborhood are you doing your holiday shopping?

* Open Borders Books -- https://www.instagram.com/openbordersbooks/
* Lockwood
* Apna and Subzi Mandi -- for a basket of Indian goodies for an out-of-state friend
* This local artist on etsy -- https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LindaDrawsQueens?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=760948554
* Table Wine

What a great list! I would add two fantastic local artists (I am sure there are many more):
* Anabelle Popa (creator of that fabulous mural on the side of Food Dynasty at 75th St. and 37th Ave): www.annabellepopa.com
* Oscar Toro (cool graffiti talismans and animals): https://www.etsy.com/shop/PlazaDeToro
