I've been receiving estimated bills from ConEd since April. Originally the bills stated that this was due to safety precautions related to COVID-19, however my June invoice did not state this.

The estimates are based on the usage during the same month in the previous year.

Like most of us, I've been spending significantly more time at home and I'm likely using more energy. I'm not sure what to expect when a bill with an actual reading arrives.

Has everyone else been receiving estimated bills? Has anyone begun to receive bills with actual readings?

As many people have lost some or all of their income, I'm guessing there may be a very unwelcome surprise arriving from ConEd soon.

When ConEd starts charging the real amounts I think they are going to start receiving some estimates themselves of when people can actually pay. I am expecting some enormous bills...

Are folks expecting bigger CON ED bills due to air conditioning?

the bills always spike when AC use goes on. i keep my bills for seven years, just to be safe, and bills go up between 50 and 60 percent when ACs go into use. this is for someone who works at home, has one AC and keeps it on "saver" mode  to go off when it hits the set temperature.

I was thinking I could be seeing a larger than normal bill just based on being home all the time and using more electricity. The estimates are based on the same month in 2019, which isn't a fair comparison - there isn't one. I would imagine this is true for many people as we normally have jobs to go to or are out doing other things. AC is a factor of course, but that season is just starting.

I do too.  Your bill is the same every month until December when you'll either have a little lower bill (if you haven't used as much energy that year) or a little higher bill (if you have used more energy).  Last year, they recalculated my monthly bill in September because I had used my AC much more than usual last summer and it was clear my December bill was going to be high.  You can always check the back of the bill for actual usage and costs.  That way, you can keep track of if you are in the red......or the green.
