Open streets 34th Ave request for No Dog Poop on median!
« on: April 05, 2020, 04:13:30 PM »
If you are enjoying the open streets, that's great but PLEASE do not let your dogs walk
or pee or poop on the green median. It's looks so nice right now because local volunteers
along with NYC Greenstreets crew work in there. Planting and mulching this strip is coming soon and it would not good - or safe- for those folks to have dog crap to deal with while gardening. Thanks for respecting the plantings also.

Better yet, don't let your dog poop stay ANYWHERE on the public streets. People who can't pick up after their dogs should not be allowed to have dogs.

Unfortunately (but perhaps fortunately for the green median), the City has decided to end the closure of the streets. Apparently not enough people were using the closed streets to justify the number of police required - which I guess is comforting as it suggests most people are staying inside.

I saw a reasonable amount of people in our neighborhood making use of the closure of 34th Ave, but not so many that it wasn't possible to practice social distancing.

It's really bizarre on a beautiful day like today to look out the window and see so few people on the street.
