7 train annoying announcements
« on: January 18, 2020, 11:32:00 AM »
Does anyone else find the additional recorded comments on the 7 train at each station annoying? Not only are they not funny or well written, but we are stuck listening to a commercial the entire commute. I hope the MTA does not go forward with this intrusion !

Omg everyone wants to complain about everything. I actually find it creative from a branding perspective and it made a few people on my train smile. Lighten up,,,it's only ONE WEEK!

Yes, I find them very annoying. Hearing them one time, on one ride, may be ok. But if you're riding frequently and have to hear the same stupid jokes over and over, it's a bit too much. The good thing is I heard they are only doing it for one week.

However, I agree, it's a slippery slope. If they do it once and make money this way, chances are they are going to do it again. Maybe they will switch to annoying riders of other train lines besides the 7 and we will catch a break.

And here's a sample for those who don't know what we're talking about on this thread:

Instead of those stupid announcements.....they should focus on cleaning those stinky trains.

maybe the money from the announcements could help pay for that.

Non event.

Barely noticeable if you are listening to a podcast/music.

Just waiting for the day when each station has it's own corporate sponsor.  Can't be far off now.

Why stop there? Let’s put loudspeakers on all the streets so we can be subjected to promotional announcements while we walk down the sidewalks. This way the city can make enough money to empty the trash cans more often.   >:(

my mom still lives in Cleveland, where i grew up. since i don't drive, i end up on the "Rapid" (in-city light rail that's a lot like the "T" in Boston) and buses there. the buses now have audio commercials that play when you're approaching a business that's advertising. invariably, those are targeted towards poorer people -- furniture rental places, check cashing, pay-for-plasma centers. it's pretty dispiriting.

Actually, maybe something akin to the "Adopt a Highway" program is exactly what the subway system needs!

Aw, I like Awkwafina (the woman doing the announcements for her new tv show based in Queens). I do find her voice to be a bit grating but it's just a week.

I was so annoyed by those Awkwafina announcements, but now I kind of miss them.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
