Hi Neighbors,
  Our building on 88th street and 35th avenue has had a recent rash of package thieves (three times that we know of since the new year).  Twice it was the same person, last night a different person took several from our mailbox area despite many signs being posted with video screenshots of the previous thief.  A police report was made, just sharing in case they are hitting several buildings in the neighborhood.  The one last night rang a resident and claimed to have packages for someone in the building was not let in, we think they just rang several other apartments.  Our buzzer system is video, we have cameras in the lobby and mailbox area -- they don't seem to care.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't think we've had a problem yet in our building but it seems like it could very easily start happening. I wonder if this is why some buildings are starting to get those Amazon lockers discussed in another thread.

E-Bay, Craigslist....

I wonder what the thieves do with all the stuff they don't want/need?  Such an odd crime.

I had a couple of packages stolen and that's pretty much what the friend who sent them said: "What are they gonna do with a couple of cat toys and a calendar?"

On the same day those were stolen, I received a package of expensive clothes that was fully opened, but the items were still inside. That may have been some kind of accident and fluke coincidence, but I'll never be sure they just didn't like the outfit
