Jackson Heights Life

Hello,
I use an app called "Citizen" which sends out alerts about various crime/emergencies happening nearby. Back on December 22, 2019 at 12:07 pm, the app sent me an alert that there's a report of water pouring from an abandoned subway station between the 69 St-Fisk Ave station and the 61 St-Woodside Station. I found it very strange, as I've never heard that there's an abandoned subway station at this location. On the app/alert, I read some first comments of residents nearby reacting to this alert. It seemed that everyone was confused/never knew about a supposed abandoned subway station there. I did some quick search on Google and could not find anything. Being a history buff, and also a huge enthusiast of transit/trains/subway system, I'd like to learn more about this supposed abandoned station. Does anyone know more / have more info/links to share? Thank you!

Very interesting. Never knew. Maybe it's somehow connected/has something to do with this other supposed abandoned station that I originally asked about.

There is no secret station on the 7 train at 65th Street - it's elevated! Just look! - but there IS, I believe, a set of track switches there, which may be what they're referring to. That's the switch they can use to have trains switch between local and express after 61st if necessary.

Roosevelt Avenue Upper Level, on the other hand, is a major secret station and a great tragedy and missed opportunity for the subway system. As I think the links say, there's two blocks worth of track going down to 78th Street and then it just ends. They should put a food court or a homeless shelter in the abandoned station

I believe it is a Transit Police office and a place where construction materials are stored.

It isn't plumbed right for a food court. Homeless shelter is an interesting idea.

The story says the RBB branches off in Rego Park, that's way down the line.
