2nd Story Pilates+Yoga is seeking a sign in person for a weekly pilates mat class on Saturdays at 1pm.

Duties include:

Opening the studio and preparing the space for class
Signing in students for the class
Answering general questions about the studio
Keeping the prop shelf organized
Closing the studio after class

To be fair, it does sound like they're asking someone to work a couple of hours in exchange for something of proportionate value - old school barter.

The position is not be confused with the federal work study program, just in case that is not clear. As someone else mentioned, it's an old school barter, as in "work in exchange for study". The interested person would show up 20 minutes ahead of time to open the studio and sign in the class. That person can take classes at no cost.

I held a work study position at a neighborhood studio when I first started practicing yoga. I was able to take as many classes as I wanted for about 40 minutes of work per week. 2nd Story has the same arrangement with our work study people.


It's not for everyone, but the people who participate tend to stick around and keep their shifts. It's a friendly, low stress situation that I hope is mutually beneficial.
