Queen size boxspring
« on: April 02, 2008, 02:35:00 PM »
We have a perfectly functional great condition queen sized box-spring to give away.

We don't need it anymore since we bought a new bed frame that didn't require a box-spring.  We are giving it away because, well, if you can carry it out of our apartment that's payment enough for us.

Private message me if interested.  First come first serve.

M, check with Sabrina.  When gina moves to the basement, she'll need everything.  I'm giving them a bookcase I don't need any more. r

Just checked, she already has one.

Again, it's FREE and in great condition.  It's a terrible waste to throw it out but there's just no room for it here.

If anyone can find a better use for it please give a holler soon.  Otherwise I'm throwing it out.  The execution date is this Friday, April 11th.

By the way, it's on 86th street and 34th avenue.  It's not heavy but you will need two people if you don't want to drag it.

It's really not a good idea to pick up box springs or mattresses from the street.  We *are* in the middle of a bedbug epidemic...

The boxspring wasn't sitting on the street.  I was stating the location of my building.

Anyway, it has been thrown away.

I just meant that it was a bad idea to take a used mattress or boxspring, no matter where you get it from.

I agree, and I wish it hasn't come to this.  However, if finances are a real issue (which for many people, they are), it might be safer to accept a used mattress set from someone who has no reason to suspect they have bedbugs, than it is to buy one - especially a reconditioned one - from a store.  There was a story on dateline about this last night and some companies within the mattress industry are being really irresponsible.

Bedbugs can live in your new mattress

I don't mean to sound alarmist, but shouldn't we also be careful about items we buy at flea markets, sidewalk book vendors, thrift shops, etc.?

I don't shop at any of those places.  Hopefully Barnes and Noble's books won't have bugs.  And better yet, I'll never have bedbugs in my apartment.  Yleech.  yleeech.  The thought creeps me out.  But even though it's a scary world, Michael's box spring, which was fairly new, I'm betting had no bugs.  But it's gone now anyway.
