A 26-year-old man was fighting for his life early Saturday after he was shot in the head in Queens, police said.
He was one of two people reported hurt by gunfire in the borough on Friday night.

Cops responding to multiple reports of shots fired just after 10 p.m. Friday found the 26-year-old victim in the middle of the block on 95th St. near 35th Ave. in Jackson Heights.

One witness who’d seen the victim around the neighborhood watched as EMTs worked to save him. “He was holding his head with his own hands,” said Michelle Rodriguez, 33. “He was moving. I was grateful for that.”

“He spends his time making his music and hanging out here with his closest friends,” Rodriguez said.
"They’ll fight sometimes, but with their hands. I have no idea why anybody would do that to him.”

The victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition. Cops were investigating whether the shooting was gang related, sources said.

In an unrelated incident, a stray bullet hit a 76-year-old woman in the head as she drove her car near the corner of 118th Ave. and Guy R. Brewer Blvd. in South Jamaica just after 10:30 p.m., cops said.
The bullet came through the passenger side window and grazed the back of the woman’s head. She was not the intended target, cops said.

She was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition, police said.

There was no description of either shooter and no arrests. cops said.

I'm no expert but maybe, just maybe, habitually fighting with one's hands could possibly escalate to getting shot?

….Not rocket science.  This area of JH has always been problematic and plagued with problems.  There have been a number of shootings concentrated around  this area.

A 26 year old is a very young person. I believe people can change. They grow. No matter what he did, what an ass he may have been, he didn't deserve to have his head blown off.

So the whole thing makes me sad.
