Not that I have spies up and down the supply chain to make sure my honey is being made using best practices, it's definitely one of those things that's common and inexpensive enough that I don't need to buy it from some random person setting up shop with a fold-out table on a street corner.

Point taken, but...

honey is NOT inexpensive. My recent purchase was $8 @ 4 oz. I bought the least expensive on the shelf; raw lavender, product of Italy. Prices reach $20, 30 even $50 for a jar.

Great on a chip of Parmesan, by the way.

Is the guy selling quality product or is it like one poster said, the bear shaped grocery store thing?

They looked like jars, but you don't REALLY know anything about it. Putting honey in jars is not hard.

Here.. instead of paying $2/oz you can pay $1/oz

or $0.54

or you could go to the farmers' market and buy from a vendor who keeps hives and sells product they make.

Hi. i was waiting for a car on Sunday, diagonal from the honey vendor at 83rd St. The NYPD came by, parked and spoke to them for about 10 minutes. Then the honey guys packed up their parked van and were gone.

I see on Twitter that @nypd115Pct is going around doing street vendor education. Interesting

I've seen the same assortment of honey (different people manning the table, though) at the greenmarket in sunnyside on saturdays. When I asked where the honey comes from, the lady said she didn't know.
