current status of fish in the neighborhood
« on: June 02, 2018, 03:43:50 PM »
Hi all,

I forgot to buy fish while I was out beyond the confines of the neighborhood today. If I wanted to pick up some fish for dinner tonight (i.e. without waiting for the Sunday farmer's market), any suggestions for good fresh fish? I know this was discussed awhile back in relation to a newish food counter at Mi Tierra on Roosevelt and 85th, but then I remember reading that it closed (which I now don't see in that thread)?? Anyone been recently who can confirm that?

thanks everyone!

i got some shrimp at Mi Tierra in early spring (weather was still cold) and hadn't heard it had closed.

had some luck at the former Pacific market, since renamed, at 75th and Broadway. shellfish is good, values on whole fish are good if you're adept at cleaning, which i am not.

There is a huge fish section at the Food Bazaar on 34th Avenue and Junction Blvd.  I've never purchased any so I cannot attest to its quality.  Not sure if they have the same at the Food Bazaar a block or so away.

The fish counter at Mi Tierra on Roosevelt closed but as far as I know Northern Blvd is still open.

yep confirming that the Mi Tierra fish counter is closed (I went by yesterday). I wasn't aware of the one on Northern so I'll try that in the future, thank you! And now that it's Sunday, happily I can just walk over to the JH farmer's market...

I second Pacific on 75th and Broadway. They've got a good selection of fresh seafood, if not necessarily particularly varied.

The Mi Tierra fish counter on Northern and 81st is alive and well. It's good.
