To most people across the country, this is a story about Jared Kushner's company doing something sneaky and illegal. But to renters here in Queens, it's just another example of what landlords and management companies get away with all over the city, despite the supposedly tougher stance by the de Blasio administration against these tactics. Of course, tenants need to know their rights in the first place to challenge what goes on, and many of them don't. I'm glad to see that some of them fought back, even though they had to get lawyers to do it.

I despise that twit, but why single him out for what most large landlords are regularly doing?

OP specifically wrote "it's just another example of what landlords and management companies get away with all over the city." That's not singling an individual or a single business entity out.

Thanks for pointing that out. I certainly wasn't singling out Kushner or his company, though the Times was, I guess since Kushner is newsworthy. I shared the article because I was glad attention was being paid to the tenants who fought Kushner. I wish more tenants in this city were able to successfully challenge their landlords when crap like that is pulled.
