COSTA CONSTANTINIDES

Costa Constantinides represents the New York City Council's 22nd District, which includes his native Astoria along with parts of Woodside, East Elmhurst, and Jackson Heights. Rahim,

If you want to get a sense of the community's priorities for your journalism project, I recommend getting out on the street and talking to people.  If you want to start a conversation here, you're likely to meet with a bit more success if you put a greater effort into giving people something to think about and respond to.

Here's one starting point: the results from last year's participatory budgeting exercise in Costa's district.

And here's the schedule for the "neighborhood assemblies" ... the last one for this first round of discussions is tonight at Bohemian Hall in Astoria.

If you look at his District, the only part of Jackson Heights that is in it is a part that most on the forum would consider East Elmhurst.

Most of Jackson Heights is in Danny Dromm's district (25), who does not do participatory budgeting. Something I'm frustrated by. District 21 , which includes parts of Jackson Heights, has been involved in the past, but I don't know how that works now that Francisco Moya is taking over that seat next year.

We desperately need a community center. Indoors, for all sorts of things like sports, classes, community meetings,
a senior center, etc. The reliance in Jackson Heights on churches, library and schools means that there is a feeling
that those events are for the residents connected to that institution - even when the sponsors are city wide programs.

Moya is making promises to LeFrak City and he needs to pay attention here in JH too.

Most of JH is not in the district that Moya just won and will be representing. If you truly care about this, and want JH to be part of participatory budgeting, reach out to Danny Dromm to push him to get involved.
