This is why I never leave my dog unattended, particularly while running errands or picking up coffee.  It's sad to say, but I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.  In this neighborhood, I've seen people leave their dogs unattended outside the Walgreens on Northern Blvd.  The dogs bark or whimper from fear while their owners shop, and on more then one occasion I've stayed nearby until the owner arrives.   In these circumstances, not only can a dog be abducted, but Northern Blvd. is a large thoroughfare.  If a dog gets untethered, then this poses a bigger danger.

Good news, they found the dognapper. The dog is safe and will be returned to the owner.
