Let's have a candidates' pledge.
#1 Don't build any housing in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, including the parking field for Citifield... at least not until housing is built in Central and Madison Square parks (that's never going to happen.)
#2, Let's convert the parking field at Citifield into a real park, with trees, grass, flowering perennials - you know, a park.

Cristina Furlong & others kicked off CC ballot, race now Moya v Monserrate

From Katie Honan at DNAInfo:

Three candidates were booted Tuesday from the primary ballot in a once-crowded City Council race after a challenge to their petition signatures by the "Queens machine" that bullies "those who haven't kissed the ring," according to one challenger.

Cristina Furlong, Erycka Montoya and Yonel Letellier Sosa — who had submitted petitions to run for the seat that will be vacated by Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras-Copeland — were kicked off the ballot at the Board of Elections hearing after Assemblyman Francisco Moya's campaign challenged their signatures.

Where did Monserrate get 450 signatures? Who's bankrolling his get-out-the-vote?

Super depressing. I'm happy that Monseratte will only be facing one person and there isn't some vote splitting that would let Monseratte in, but damn. Cristina could have dragged a boring race in a good direction.

Just because you're a Democrat, doesn't mean you aren't power hungry.....

i would have liked to have cast a vote for Ms. Furlong, who's been a great voice for the community.

but now, anything to keep our local Donald "grab 'em by the hair and drag 'em down the stair" Trump out of office.
