"I accept that I live in a Socialist Democrat center of New York."

okaaaaay.

But this thread is not about you.

No, it's simply my opinion that at the moment, Socialist Democrat is where I live. It's obvious.

Though I must admit I am still astounded that folks (and our leaders) were planning what to do with the $3 Billion Amazon was going to get.  There is no $3 Billion.  And if people can't work out the tax credit situation, they deserve to be manipulated.

Don't know, but probably not.

Try to understand that not everybody that wants to work desires to be in a union. Because some--like you--insist on unions means that others lose opportunities to work.

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/02/progressive-groups-queens-celebrate-amazons-exit/582922/

An article of the "party" in Diversity Plaza after Amazon withdrew its offer in LIC. It describes the Bezos pinata.

I was interested in some of the comments, such as the start of revolution. I wonder how much of this is a misunderstanding of unfettered free speech. It reminds me of the man giving a speech outside the bank at 37th ave and 74th street a few years ago. He was shouting about his joy that islamic groups would overthrow the US govt. He was arrested.

I wonder how activist some of the more radical people were in their home countries.

I doubt that you will allow this comment since you, the moderator, have already censored the opinions of others this morning.

At least we have some honesty on this tread. Socialist Democrats is were Queens politicians are at this moment. All presidential candidates seem to also following this trend.

Not all.  Only those with no backbone of their own.

I saw on instagram that Jessica Ramos was promoting a rally to stop the Amazon distribution center.

Apparently the average salary for the HQ2 campus was going to be too high and would raise housing costs in the neighborhood, and the average salary for the distribution center ($28k according to her post) is too low.

I guess we really don’t want any jobs in the area.

I suppose creating a bogey-man out of Amazon and focusing followers' ire onto it, a classic scapegoat, is far easier than really tackling problems.

Amazon already signed the lease so they are on the hook for ten years. They will not back out now. I suspect Amazon looks at their numbers as to sales and wants to keep making money. Hell even AOC spends heavily on Amazon! The hypocrisy!

If true, this is pretty hypocritical. Too bad there isn't a snapshot of the expenditure report. I usually won't buy into a press story unless I see/hear the evidence.

Thanks for posting this, JK.

This distribution center is moving full-speed ahead.

Amazon is deepening its roots in Queens, more than two months after zapping its HQ2 plans in Long Island City — stirring opponents to declare they’re not done fighting yet.

Three miles away in Woodside, Terreno Realty Corporation obtained Department of Buildings approval Monday to proceed with $5.6 million in construction at a warehouse where Amazon signed a ten-year lease to open its second fulfillment center in New York City.
