Boozy Brunch in JH

I'm all for pushing out the mass gentrification happening elsewhere in Queens, such as Astoria and Sunnyside. However, is it really too much to ask for JH to have the following 3 things:
1) a cute little joint that serves really awesome brunch food with unlimited mimosas or kick a$$ bloody Mary's!!
2) a great little bar that serves good food, craft beers and some good old cocktails mixed by bartenders and not just spout slingers?
Please??? I'm so sick of leaving this amazing neighborhood to go to astoria to have the abovementioned experiences!

For cocktails, try some of the Thai bars like Pata Papleon or Playground or Sake Bar or maybe South American style like Terraza or some Peruvian bars on Northern. Or are you trying to go to Dutch Kills?


Brunch try Urubamba on weekends. It's different than Park Slope or LIC. You move to a place and you shouldn't expect them to change for you, you should find things that you can adapt to.

The brunch options at Rico Tinto, in the back, are actually pretty amazing. You think they're going to be mundane, but they're really raised to a new level - not what you expect from just reading the menu. Totally recommended. No liquor license, but you know the bailarena bars on Roosevelt soaked up all the liquor licenses in the area.

Probably other reasons for no liquor license at this underrated spot. But go for the food anyway

seconding jeff's recommendations. and noting that people from Astoria could very well be sitting around kvetching that they have to go "all the way to Jackson Heights or Elmhurst" to get top notch Thai or Himalayan food.

Thanks everyone for these recommendations! I wrote them all down and plan to try each and every one.
@MrPlaza I totally agree that I don't expect JH to change for me. But just like a place like Espresso 77 can exist and thrive, just shows that this neighborhood wouldn't hurt to have 1 or 2 similar vibe joints. Super excited to try the recs though!!!
