Sidewalk Shed (Scaffolding) on 82nd St and 37th Ave

An article in the New York Times got me thinking about the sidewalk shed on the South East corner of 82nd Street and 37th Avenue.  It seems like it has been up for years with no visible work being done.  Does anyone know more about the situation?  Is there anything we can do to get it taken down?

It would be so nice to have that eyesore taken down.  It has bothered me for years.

That's not the only one.  There is a wooden wall on the corner of 83rd and 35th that has been there over five years.
I havent seen any work going on for ages at one you are referring to.

Believe it or not, I think landlords have no incentive to take them down. In some circumstances, it's cheaper to renew the permits than to remove the structure. Which just leads to keeping it up, for well, you know, possible future work. But the one on 82 and 37th sure is a mystery.
