I think it is time to ban all parades in JH. This is a residential neighborhood.

It didn't last very long!  yes it was loud - I could feel the bass thumping in my chest.  But it was colorful and fun to watch.

What about the Halloween parade?  ;D

I've never really minded the parades since they're not that long and happen during the weekend daytime when the vast majority of folks are out. If there is a reason why there should be less, it's because 37th Ave and Northern Blvd are too busy and important to shut down at any juncture of time. TBH, Long Island City is a much better spot for a parade because there's less traffic and more room to operate.

With the exception of the Halloween parade, I could live without the rest. Yes they are colorful and fun to watch, but they are all too frequent, noisy  and disruptive.  The weekends during the day is when most residents are busy doing errands and spending time with family or at home ready for some quiet down time.  On several occasions I've had my driveway blocked by a parade goer who thought it would be okay to park in my driveway.  As some of you can attest, it takes hours for them to come and tow the car ruining the day for me. I do agree that parades in a residential area should restricted , or at least be reduced to a minimum. Wonder how  many we've had so far?

Isn't 37th Ave and Northern Blvd commercial? Would you prefer parades to be in an industrial area? The people who go to parades are..... the residents of the neighborhood.

Like I said. I prefer they not be held at all. Yes Jeff you are are correct.  37 Avenue and Northern are commercial streets that run through a residential neighborhood. While these streets are commercial,  the neighborhood is not. There is definitely a spill over when parades happen.  Noise, litter, parking, congestion, etc etc. Of course some people who live  here go. I would think that people from outside Jackson Heights come to the parades as well. Does that mean we have to have a high frequency of disturbance for everyone every time?

I really don't know what other NYC neighborhood have so many parades each year.

well, most of the major ethnic parades -- the ones that draw tens or even hundreds of thousands -- run on either the fifth avenue corridor from midtown up to the 70s (which has plenty of high end residences) or the madison avenue corridor in the 20s and 30s (likewise, a huge number of residents). there's generally one every other week during the nice weather, from indian to greek to israeli to polish to hungarian.......

Complaining about parades when you live in NYC is like complaining about the weather when you live in Boston.

My daughter and i both have dominican fathers so i thought....why not go and show our support?

It wasnt a parade.  Just loud deafening music playing from speakers in car trunks.

I actually covered my daughters ears and risked my own hearing.

It was so loud even our vocal cords were vibrating.

Horrible!
