We have the most mosquitoes

Do we have like running water or sewage problem? What other causes this.

Mosquitoes enjoy feeding on sweet blood. I have salty blood and I rarely get bitten, but a sibling has sweet blood and gets bitten like there's no tomorrow.

People of south Asia, southeast Asia, South & Central America have a predisposition for having sweet blood. That's where the highest concentration of mosquitoes are in the world.

That's the first thing I thought of as well. Standing water in the garden spaces.

Personally I haven't seen but maybe one mosquito all season so far.

How does one know if their blood is sweet or salty? By taste?

The "sweet blood" thing is a myth, although there is evidence they slightly prefer type-O blood. I don't think it tastes any different to humans, though.  :)

The global geographic distribution of mosquitoes is based only on climate - warm places with lots of standing water get more mosquitoes. I would guess the problem in Jackson Heights is related to all the gardens.

So are the people from this areas of the world the problem?

I have not seen a Mosquito this year.
