Post Snow Parking
« on: January 29, 2016, 09:58:27 AM »
Parking in JH is normally difficult, but was wondering how horrendous it has become with the piles of snow taking up spots.  We are going out to the island Saturday for a few hours in the morning and wanted to see if it was worth it to rent a car for the day instead of moving it from our spot.  Car rentals are pretty cheap, about $25.  How bad is that parking now?

I feel the same way. The car's been parked since the day before the snow. It's all cleared off and we can easily get it out, but I'm worried about finding parking on the way back.
Generally, I worry about parking way too much. Only another 5 years on the garage list!

now is the time for folks to be breaking up the snow and ice and tossing it in to the street to melt and drain away. Prior to moving here I lived in a neighborhood with mostly 1 and 2 family homes, and everyone did that as soon the days got warm and the streets were clear of snow.

I had to move my car on Sunday morning and I've moved it twice a day since and to tell you the truth"post snow parking" has been easier than any other time. In the 10-12 occasions this week that I looked for parking, the average time finding a spot was just 5 minutes or so opposed to sometimes being 15-20 minute averages. Hey, maybe I got lucky or I used my AWD to push through snow banks.

I'm glad I dug out the day after the storm, the snow as of recent was a heavy, hard ice packed snow which I wouldn't of enjoyed
