having curtains/window dressing made in JH?

Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has ever had custom curtains made for their apartment in Jackson Heights? I am looking for both a good fabric store and a place that would make the curtains (could be two different places, of course). We are looking for something very, very simple and not expensive, but are having a hard time finding what we are looking for in the mainstream stores. There are so many fabric stores in the area, I don't even know where to begin. Any suggestions or experiences with this in the neighborhood?

You read my mind!  I was just about to post with this same question.  I always see beautiful fabrics in the windows along 73rd and 74th Street.  I wonder if we could buy the fabric and then take it to a tailor?
