how much to pay the painter?
« on: April 09, 2015, 09:57:13 PM »
I have a painter coming Saturday. He's priming/painting the bedroom ceiling, walls, and trimming including two windows. The room is about 10 x 16. He's also painting the kitchen, which is just a walk-in and has a window. I'm supplying the paint. The guy is a building worker and is doing this on the side. He's trying to do me a favor and wouldn't quote me a price! How much should I pay him?

Consider paying him by the hour.  Anywhere from $20 to $25 an hour would be fair.

duh, why didn't I think of that?

Thank you, 3525. That's exactly what I'll do.

Do you think he will be interested in additional painting work?

don't want to go into details, but can't say i would recommend him.

if you shop at Kazalas Paint on 37th and 90th, they might recommend someone. i will try that route next time.
