I sold a unit at The Manchester with a small kitchen.  The new owners went to IKEA and purchased stand alone pieces.  The kitchen is absolutely gorgeous and they spent very little.  Perhaps this may work for you.  Good luck!

IKEA cabinets as not as tall as what I am looking for, I would have to use a second row of cabinets if I went with IKEA.

At 50+ you'll have to either have them made or get off the rack 30" and 15" in height and add crown moldings or 39" and 12".  You'll still have do some carpentry to make them look right and tight but cabinets that height will look very custom and expensive.  Go to any cabinet shop in College Point and take a look...they are the least expensive around for the look.  New Hoa is cheap and the overall quality is go.

Bathroom

I'm almost done with this kitchen as well....I have to align the doors and add the steel corners as well as the handles

I like this one below, I kept my signature cherry cabinets and only used up half of the floor space in the kitchen to allow for a small dining table to the right!  We finished this one on a Friday night and we had an accepted offer on Monday!   :smitten:

Hi - I'm looking for recommendations on someone to remodel my kitchen - needs to be a designer too, not just a contractor, because I'm thinking of tearing down walls, and need some help with the "vision." Anyone had any great experiences?
Thanks!

I'm busy for the next two weeks but I can come and see the project if you wish next week...We are not cut throat, superintendent or handyman priced but you wont get more for the money than with Gotham Stat Industries (That's me...  :2funny:
 - self promotion is shameless thing  :D )

Here's some of my work...Shoot me an Email or call me at 917-577-2868

Good Luck ;)

Don't worry  :D, we are not expensive...Full renovations start at $5k for labor.  Gut rehabs start at about $7k and up for labor.  Our cabinets suppliers will give you prices that are about the same as ikea but better product over all with solid wood fronts and plywood sides.  Granite countertops start at $25 per foot and they will deliver and install for about $350 under our supervision.  No charge for design and planing but we will work with any interior designer or architect if you so choose to spend money that route.  If you want to buy Ikea we will strongly recommend you have them  deliver it already assembled.  We can work with any cabinets you decide to use plus we can modify them if necessary.  We will begin to take credit cards in the next few weeks as well.  You can come and see work already done and work that is in progress.

This one was going really fast since I had a buyer for it before I began the demo.  All was well except for the fact that the seller requested a credit for his refrigerator because he was going get his own.  Unfortunately the buyer, the seller and the lawyers forgot to tell me.  I mean, so what, I'm only the Broker and the FREAKING CONTRACTOR!  It didn't crossed anyone to tell me that it was a side by side and that since I was the one designing the layout of the kitchen I should have had an idea of what was coming.  I always end up using the landlords standard refrigerators (1 door).  Anyway, I had to redesign the breakfast bar and the granite counter (Did I mention I was out 2 man days and $375 for the counter)

The final product still came out nice but this is a reminder that appliances must be incorporated into the design of a kitchen.  Failure to do this will limit your choices in appliances.

I had the worst experience in doing a small kitchen in Jackson Hts a while ago.  Employees being trained, Ikea cabinets with missing hardware, dust controls flawed, difficult Board, Damaged granite counter tops from factory.  You name it, it happend.  I was lucky the client was really understanding and saw things for what they were.  This was the only time that I really considered firing a supervisor on the spot...He actually let a trainee install a mosaic tile back splash.  I don't even want to remember  :(

After having the supervisor return to the apartment 2 times to fix all the F' ups the project did turn out nice. I don't like white in kitchens but I have to admit this client had a good eye and taste.  I helped him with over all look and contract, layout etc but he chose his tiles and backsplash as well as the IKEA cabinets.

What is the point of this thread? It seems like it's mostly an advertisement for a contractor.

Spanishfly...the only thing fly about you is your name and even that's debatable.  If no one else wants to input than let it be.  The point here is not for someone like yourself to criticize the "contractor" that is actually contributing to the thread.    ...I tell you what.  I haven't gotten much work from JHLifers because I can't compete with the building super and his cousins, brothers,  friends or other uninsured, unlicensed handymen out there running loose in Jackson Heights claiming to be contractors that can pull a kitchen for 3k or 5k.  Maybe if I stop paying my $36k insurance per year and maybe just cheat our government in the few "prevailing jobs" I get i too can renovate an entire apartment for 8K.

May I suggest that you click on the following  http://www.jacksonheightslife.com/community/index.php?action=notify;topic=1206.0
.  This way you don't have to be bothered with the constant propaganda.

I do this because I want people to get ideas, I want to promote propper planing, execution in renovation.  Maybe they will increase the value of their units or at least be able to sell them faster then the next shareholder.  AM I self promoting, haven't gotten any work from here yet (well at least I haven't gotten much work)  I think long term...one day JH will be known for more than the historic district, maybe will be known as one of those neighborhoods that you can pretty much walk into any apartment and say WOW!  I would like to be part of that, sorry if it made you uncomfortable Spanish mosca!  Next time you take a personal shot at me or my company make sure you know I will step up.

Mira...Don't forget
