Police Sirens
« on: August 09, 2015, 09:37:40 AM »
I hear at least two police sirens before 10am several mornings a week. Do we have that much crime in the neighborhood? I'm starting to feel like I live in the South Bronx.

are you sure they're all police, and not fire or ambulance?

I know I can't tell the difference between an ambulance siren and a police siren.  On the other hand, I have never really noticed hearing that many sirens at all.

I hear ambulances all the time, I think they go up the street next to us from Elmhurst Hospital area to get through to the area north of JH.

Agreeing with this.  I also hear a lot of activity from both, ambulances and the fire department trucks.  It's fair to say that these sounds are commonplace when living near a hospital and fire department.  Also, Elmhurst Hospital's trauma center does see a lot of activity, so that may be a reason why we tend to hear sirens with more frequency.

It also depends on where you live. I'm on 34th Avenue, it's generally very quiet here. When I lived on 37th Avenue, well there's a reason I moved...
