Jackson Heights Life

Diversity Plaza was rocking when I walked by earlier this evening with a celebration of the Bengali New Year, Pohela Boishakh.   The sound system wasn't working right, but everybody seemed to be having a great time.  There was a packed crowd of all ages, everybody decked out in beautiful traditional clothing.  There was a small procession led by the JH   Bangladesh Club and even some attempts at crowd surfing.   Great to see such a well attended event on a weekday in the neighborhood!
