Description:
New York’s second largest free Latino weekly is recruiting freelance writers for our News and Features sections. Combined circulation is 40,000. We publish in English and Spanish. Our focus is on local news and politics (especially East Harlem, Brooklyn and the Bronx) and arts and entertainment. We are also looking to expand coverage of Queens, especially Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, and Sunnyside.

Typical story length is 750-1,200 words. Writers should be able to take their own photos to accompany their stories. We are ONLY looking to recruit NYC residents. We also encourage writers to pitch their own ideas. Especially strong writers may also have the possibility of writing a regular column. Writers do not have to be bilingual, but preferably should be able to speak conversational Spanish and/or have some knowledge of the Latino community in New York. We are especially interested in recruiting writers who can write fluently in Spanish.

Pay is up to $50 per story, but is negotiable based on length and work required.
