for what it's worth, Delhi Heights 3.0 is now open 24 hours. no, it's not outstanding, but this is no longer the city that never sleeps, and it's nice to have a late-night/early morning option.

Peace. A Diwali/Hanukkah/Christmas/Kwanzaa miracle.

i hope it lingers. and i really hope there's no actual animus here, just spirited (if sometimes uncouth) debate.

Happy New Year, abcdefghijk. and see you on the next forum.

Crime is down, historically.
Or do we want to go back in time to the Giuliani days?

absolutely.

anyone who lived in NYC in the 70s, 80s or 90s (maybe the sixties, but i was an infant/toddler then) can tell you crime was much higher in "the good old days."

in debates, online or otherwise, people believe they are making statements that are "positive" (or "correct" or "helpful"), and believe the opposing viewpoint is "negative." it's a knee-jerk reaction, and it's human nature, not learned behavior.

it's always nice to hear from the pro-disease side. nothing's quite as heartwarming during the holidays as seeing someone giggle about 17,000 people in the ICU and 1500 dying per day.

let me save you the time -- i know it's "just the flu," as is congestive heart failure.

here's an instance where i wish the forum would have had a simple agree/disagree option. because you're correct, and there's really not much else to add.

is there a single neighborhood chat board anywhere in North America that's focused on real news?

Heather Cox Richardson is brilliant. reading her every day is good for the soul.

the moderators who've worked so hard making this site a vibrant and wonderfully useful forum should get the last word -- thank you all again.

ii'm sorry i missed this. i kinda like the Sean one.

they do have a big age difference, but then again, Mick Jagger has a kid who's 50 and another who's 4 or 5 years old.

happy holidays!

The one with Sean on guitar kinda makes me feel bad for Julian. (I love Sean BTW) Sean wasn't even conceived when John and Yoko wrote this. Julian always gets the shaft.

change for the sake of change is always good. who questions any change to anything is automatically suspect. to that end, we should probably hold national elections monthly. don't dismiss the idea out of hand due to curmudgeonly tendencies.

South Africa leading the way yet again.Eanwhile chaos amd terror reign here in the United States of Dumb. NYC Tough! ...not

fear and overreaction has always been the American way. except when it comes to guns, which are soon to be inserted into the womb during pregnancy to guarantee infants can develop skills before heading off to day care.

reading is almost obsolete now, so this concept -- which seems entirely feasible -- could be just the thing we need to dumb things down to the next level, removing the last vestige of literacy from the lives of millions of people whose reading and writing activities are confined to social media and online commentary.
